I almost dated this 2012. Also, sorry for the volume of emails lately. There’s a part of me that wants this to be its own digital magazine.

Contributor and resident fandom expert Monia brought a new minority sexual orientation to my attention: aegosexuality.

A subset of asexuality, it looks like aegosexuality has two definitions:

  • Someone who finds things arousing despite not feeling sexual attraction.

And, second, more specifically:

  • An identity that describes those with a disconnection between themselves and the subject of sexual fantasies or attraction.

As Monia pointed out, aegosexuals are distinct from voyeurs because it’s not the act of watching that arouses them.

Aegosexuality is a virtual sexuality—a sexuality disembodied, completely outside of oneself.
