… Should this have been the virtual sexual revolution? …
I have a very special announcement.
As many of you know, I strongly, strongly believe that we’re going to pivot back to live events. (Really, a pivot back to the physical world in general!) But I’m also passionate about the online world.
So, I decided to marry the two: a physical world event about the Internet. Specifically, sex on the Internet. And it’s at a circus.
In partnership with Substack. Aella, a woman who needs no introduction, is going to be there. And so is the inimitable e-girl comedienne and Andy Kaufman fan “CLASSY” Fred Blassie. And oracle/trend forecaster Sean Monahan, the man who coined the phrase “vibe shift.” And psychologist Paul Bloom, who I cannot believe said yes to this. And Kate Lindsay, who hosts Slate’s Internet culture podcast, ICYMI and writes one of my favorite newsletters. And novelist, journalist, and suspected vampire (for real, she does not age, at all, sorry to out you) Kat Rosenfield. And last but certainly not least Noelle Perdue, who is easily the most interesting person alive.
This is really starting to sound like a Stefon sketch, but it’s all real.
Join me at Chicago’s Teatro ZinZanni for The Digital Sexual Revolution on September 16 at 7:00 p.m.
Grab your ticket HERE — they’re FREE.
Touch grass with me in a circus as we discuss and debate the trials and tribulations of mediated sex. If you can’t make it, tell all your Chicago friends!

DISPATCHES FROM THE MCLUHANS, AS IN MARSHALL
Understanding Media: Part Three is a 13-part intensive look at the last third of media theorist Marshall McLuhan‘s major 1964 work Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man taking place online over the course of 13 weeks. Taught by my dear friend, Andrew McLuhan, the Director of The McLuhan Institute, UMI III will focus on chapters 21-33 of the book. I can’t recommend this class highly enough and wish I had the time to take it myself. Learn more here.
Sounds like a blast. I can't make it but dang I miss Chicago.
Congrats! This is the kind of jam you are made for. If I were still in Chicago I would be all over it.
