I'm Talking To Caroline Calloway and Tara Isabella Burton Soon, Link Inside
A live event on 08.18.2023 + a virtual one on 8.28.2023
Hi friends!
I will be hosting a little event to cap off my time in New York, which is, unfortunately, ending a few weeks earlier than anticipated (the Midwest beckons).
I’ll discuss some of the research I did at my residency and revisit a favorite question of this Substack, “Can you pair bond during cybersex?” The event itself is free, but I’m keeping the invite confined to paid subscribers only—partially to keep the size manageable. Details for all that are below the cut.
For people not in New York, or, very reasonably, uninterested in committing to a paid subscription to this newsletter, I’ll be co-hosting a virtual event with Tara Isabella Burton and Caroline Calloway (WTF!!) on 8.28.2023. You can sign up for that one here.
And finally: I published an essay about social media platform migrations in Compact yesterday, which I am very proud of. It’s paywalled, but my discount code is “DEE” if you’re so inclined…
I made the mistake—or maybe this was a good strategy, actually, because it got people talking—of advertising this piece with an incendiary tweet that I wrote within the first 30 seconds of waking up. Based on some of the responses I received, I think people thought I was railing against how Twitter is fascist or Twitter cliques or something. As much as I might have been “asking for it” in this specific case, I am surprised that people don’t know by now that such an article would be remarkably out of character for me, LOL. I’m not much of a position-taker, I much prefer describing things.
Anyway, I digress—hopefully I will see some of you soon. Book and film club will resume next month.
